A fund manager has predicted a record-breaking year for ETFs.

Van Eck Australia managing director Arian Neiron has predicted investment in ETPs will outperform last year's growth. Investment in ETPs in 2015 were up a record 42% to $21.34bn.

"In this environment strategic beta is set to be a bigger part of investor’s portfolios as it better meets their needs in achieving cost effective outperformance,” Neiron said.

Neiron predicted more product launches for 2016, particularly strategic beta and ETMFs, as well as greater scalability bringing investors lower costs.
