Godfrey Pembroke has announced a new general manager to replace Peter Smith, who is now general manager of Advice Partnerships for NAB Wealth.
Sean Allen will take up the position effective immediately. Allen has 25 years’ experience in financial services and most recently was the state manager of the MLC Advice Solutions business in New South Wales. He has held previous roles leading self-employed and institutionally-owned financial planning businesses at organisations such as BT, Westpac and Colonial First State.
“I have been an admirer of Godfrey Pembroke for a long time because of its standing in the market on fees, transparency and quality advice,” said Allen. “I’m excited about building on the strong momentum that the advice network has and helping our advisers adapt to the new world for advice and take advantage of the opportunities that abound.”
Smith has welcomed Allen to the team.
“Sean has an impressive record of success when it comes to advice leadership, strategy development and execution, product distribution and investment management,” said Smith. “He is known for his strong passion for clients and I know he’ll work tirelessly to help the licensee firms within the Godfrey Pembroke network build client advocacy and harness technology in order to grow and become more productive.”
Smith is already well into his role as general manager of Advice Partnerships, and recently spoke to Wealth Professional about the challenges he sees for the profession in the future. These include succession, property within SMSFs, and the decision for advisers about whether to become a "GP" adviser, or a specialist.
