Swiss Re's life and health head swaps to Comminsure

The insurance arm of Commonwealth Bank has an experienced life insurance player as its new executive general manager.

Helen Troup, currently Swiss Re’s head of life and health insurance for Australia and New Zealand, will begin her new role at the ‘big four’ bank on April 7.

Troup is well-regarded within the insurance industry with a strong track record in driving business growth through strong leadership and successful customer offerings, Commonwealth’s wealth management group executive Annabel Spring said.

“I am delighted Helen will be leading Comminsure and joining the wealth management leadership team. Her extensive experience is reflected not only in the successful businesses she has led but in her contribution to industry organisations across the financial services industry.”

Before working at Swiss Re, Troup was chief executive of ING New Zealand – now OnePath NZ – during a time of disrupted financial markets.

She also held a number of senior roles at Royal and Sun Alliance – now Asteron – and the currently-named OnePath Australia, including executive director of life and risk, and head of risk insurance markets.

Troup, who holds a Bachelor of Economics, has been a Financial Services Council life board committee member, and was recently appointed co-chair of the FSC’s group risk working group.
